Safeguarding in Arts Settings
Ann Marie has a passion for the performing arts. As a child she was a member of the Youth Theatre and performed at Covent Garden, The Sadlers Well Theatre and The Tricycle Theatre. She undertook several Speech and Drama exams.
She was a member of an amateur drama group in her teens and often performed in plays and pantomimes.
Ann Marie is also a member of the safer dance schools steering group and has supported them in strengthening safeguarding across the sector, works in partnership with the NSPCC and the national government with putting in policies and procedures within those respective sectors.
She has spoken at various art and dance organisations about safeguarding. She is a member of the Dance School Safeguarding Working Group campaigning to strengthen safeguarding in this field.
In August 2020 Ann Marie supported the journalist leading on the ‘’fresh allegations of sexual abuse’’ in a renowned ballet school based in Scotland. An interview was held with ITV news and the school was closed two weeks later. She advised the reporter as the subject expert.
She has delivered training to Museums, Music organisations, Radio Stations.
