Safeguarding in Faith Settings
We support faith groups with embedding policy, procedures into everyday practice. Ann Marie works with faith leaders in scrutinising current procedures, including the impact of training, policy and the recruitment processes.
She appeared as a live guest speaker on Sky TV’s, the Sikh Channel to talk about child abuse and raised awareness within the community. Ann Marie visited two temples based in Southall and Birmingham to educate families about child abuse, how it happens, by who and how to report it. A culture of reporting was created and has prevailed since.
Ann Marie worked as an associate with a leading Faith Charity where she conducted regular reviews, delivered training and supported a safeguarding culture across various denominations.
Between 2008 and 2021, she sat on the local Parish Safeguarding Committee and chaired quarterly meetings and delivered bi-annual safeguarding children & adult training to volunteers.
In 2016 became the Parish Safeguarding representative and was the safeguarding lead. In the role she worked in partnership with the Diocese, Local Authority, and police.
For four years Ann Marie delivered a keynote at the Diocese Annual Training day covering several topics including safer recruitment, online safety and many more.
